Real Madrid CF forward Ruud van Nistelrooy holds his own place in UEFA Champions League history. The 12 goals he scored for Manchester United FC in 2002/03 remain the record for most goals in a single campaign and he is one of only five players to have struck four times in a match in the élite tournament.
